The 2011 Les Schwab Invitational boys basketball tournament tipped off Monday afternoon, and Riverside Academy (La.) power forwardRicardo Gathers stole the show with a trio of emphatic dunks in his team’s 84-61 win over Southridge.
Gathers finished the game with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks. The 6-6, 235-pound senior and 2011 Mr. Louisiana Basketball is one of the top prospects in the nation, ranked as the No. 13 power forward in the country by Rivals.com. Gathers originally committed to St. John’s University, but has re-opened his recruiting and is considering offers from LSU, Alabama, Baylor, Cal, Memphis, USC, Ole Miss and St. John’s.
Riverside will take on Central Catholic Wednesday at 4 p.m.
